AbstandHans Rotman studied at the Highschool for Music in Utrecht and at the Boston Symphony Festival in Tanglewood (USA) with Kurt Masur and Leonard Bernstein.
Rotman recorded 20 CD´s for CPO, Radio 3 Brussels, Talent Records (Belgium) Harmonia Mundi, Kreuzberg-records (Berlin) with operas by Tjaikovsky and Mozart, Concerti by Ernst Toch, Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari and many contemporary composers.

AbstandAs a conductor he worked and recorded with major orchestras as the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Radio Orchestra Brussels (BRTN), Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, National Symphony Orchestra Taiwan, Berliner Symphoniker, Tonkünstler Orchester (Wien), Staatskapelle Halle, Nürnberger Sinfoniker, Jenaer Philharmonie, Philharmonisches Orchester Erfurt, Magdeburger Philharmonie, Anhaltische Philharmonie, Theater Kiel, Saarländisches Staatstheater, and Radio Orchestra Leipzig (MDR) .
Festivals
Klaus Maria Brandauer commissioned Rotman to write a cycle of solopieces for Cello for his Mozartlectures in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. In 2007 Rotman was invited as composer in residence of the Spanish Festival Musica Religiosa Cuenca. Concerts in international Festivals: Holland Festival, Festival van Vlaanderen, Rheingau Musikfestival, Kunstfest Weimar, Academia Chigiana Siena, Tanglewood Music Festival, Händel-Festspiele Halle, Musikfest Stuttgart, Dresdner Musikfestspiele.
Contemporary Music Theatre
As a composer Rotman is well known for his compositions for musictheatre: The Songcycle „Blauwbaard“ (International Vocal Competition´s-Hertogenbosch), the Radio-Operetta „Erosie“ (Amsterdam/Brussel/Weimar, nominated for the Prix d´Italia), the operatic farce “3PV3” (Amsterdam), the Monodram´s „Extase“ (Den Haag) and „A Thousand Drums“ (Dresden), the TV-Opera „Torre de Canela“ (Weimar/Brussel/Antwerpen/Düsseldorf) and the full-sized opera „Die sechste Stunde“ (directed by Johann Kresnik),and „Spiel im Sand“ (Opera Halle)

Since 2022 he supports music exchange projects in the Middle East invited by the German international education institute GIZ and the Goethe Institut.
Cooperations
In 2023 Rotman was appointed director of the Forum für zeitgenössische Musik Leipzig for combined Projects with the IMPULS-Festival.
